Pokémon Go Creators Will Make New Game With Nintendo

Nintendo e Niantic, Pokémon Go, have a new partnership. The two companies have teamed up to create an Augmented Reality game from the series Pikmin. Not to be confused with “Pokémon”, as they are totally different brands, despite having similar writing and concepts.

  • Pokémon GO is tested on the Microsoft HoloLens 2 mixed reality headset
  • Pokémon GO and more Niantic games banned 1 million players

Niantic announced the new partnership with Nintendo on its official website, but without giving details about the project. In addition, the company cites “partnership for mobile applications”, in the plural, implying that other projects will also be launched over time.

The Pikmin Augmented Reality game also doesn't have a release date, but the idea is that Niantic will release more official details over the next few months, when we have concrete information about the production.

What is Pikmin?

Pikmin is an established series of games from Nintendo with an "overlord" system. The system is given this name because of the gameplay: in the control of a character you have the command of several others at the same time, like an army.

Most likely, the Augmented Reality mobile game follows the same concept, increasing collectible elements, as is also the case in Pokémon Go.

Pikmin has had games released on multiple platforms and is one of Nintendo's great successes. Currently the company is also preparing the release of Pikmin 4 for Switch, but with no forecast of hitting stores.
