Pokémon Go update brings the second generation of Pokémon

Attention trainers who forgot that Pokémon Go existed: Niantic announced this Wednesday (15) the biggest update to the game yet, which finally includes the 80 new Pokémon of the second generation, new forms of evolution and other minor news. If you haven't uninstalled Pokémon Go yet, it might be a good reason to get back to playing.

Recently, seven new Pokémon were included in the game, but they only appeared when the user cracked an egg. Taking advantage of the end of the Valentine's Day event, which gave users double candy, Niantic has already promised to include a good part of the second generation, those Pokémon that appeared in the Gold and Silver games in the Johto region. More gender variations will also appear within Pokémon Go.

Now it's for real: these Pokémon will appear ready to be caught, just like the first generation, including starters Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. With the novelty, some Pokémon you have from the original generation can be evolved into versions that came into existence from the second generation, such as Steelix (which evolves from Onix), Blissey (comes from Chansey) and Crobat (from Golbat).

In addition, PokéStops will deliver a number of new items, including specific items to help Pokémon evolve ― I hope they've included some stones that, when exposed to Eevee, influence its evolution. There are also new fruits, in addition to the Razz Berry, to have different effects on the Pokémon: give it a Nanab Berry and it will be slower and easier to catch; the Pinap Berry doubles the number of candies you get when you capture it.

There are also other minor news: the capture the Pokémon screen has been improved, with options to catch PokéBalls and fruits without having to click on the backpack. Now, even Pokémon have more reactions when you try to catch them. Your avatar is also more customizable: a new outfit has been added for you to better customize your character.

As the full second generation has 100 Pokémon, it is to be expected that some (13, specifically) will not appear in the game, such as the legendary Entei (and its variations) and Celebi ― the official list, however, is not out yet. We'll find out more about this and other information by the end of this week, when Niantic promises to release the update.

    Have you reinstalled the game?
