Pokémon GO has its first Carnival event “at home”

Pokémon GO will receive, for the first time, an event to celebrate Carnival. Starting at 10am on February 18th and running until 20pm on the 19th, players in Latin America and the Caribbean will be able to find “music or happiness” themed Pokémon, as well as other bonuses and shiny species (Shiny).

In the news announcement post, the Pokémon GO team wrote:

In 2021 we will not be able to celebrate Carnival with our friends and families at parties and blocks the way we are used to. But that doesn't mean we can't celebrate with our Pokémon and connect virtually. So we're incredibly excited to introduce the first-ever Carnival Celebration at home in Pokémon GO!

Carnival Event in Pokémon GO

The following Pokémon, considered to be "representing the festive spirit of Carnival", will appear most frequently during the event:

  • Digglet;
  • Jigglypuff (with possibility of encounter with glowing form);
  • Hitmontop;
  • Torchic;
  • Lotad;
  • cricket dead;
  • Bronzer;
  • Munna;
  • Emolga.

The Carnival event is very similar to the Community Day event, as the events will also last for three hours and a free combo of items will be offered in the Shop — containing 50 Poké Balls, two Incense, 10 Frambo Fruits and 1 Remote Raid Pass.

Raid Highlights

There will still be two special “Raid Hours” occasions for the Pokémon GO Carnival event:

  • On February 18th, from 18pm to 19pm, Kricketot will appear in Raids, with a chance of Shiny;
  • On the 19th, at the same time, Emolga will be the chosen one that will appear in the raids (nothing about better chances of finding a brilliant was mentioned).

Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto

The Carnival event precedes the celebration of 25 years of the franchise and also the fifth anniversary of Pokémon GO. Despite having a ticket worth R$ 69,90 to fully enjoy the occasion, some opportunities will also be available for players without an event ticket.
