Pokémon GO brings 151 Shiny species from Kanto in birthday event

Next year marks the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise and also the fifth year of the mobile game's life. To celebrate the dates, on February 20, the paid Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto event will allow players to capture all species from this region in their Shiny form, including the mythical Mew. Ticket is already being sold in-game.

Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto is scheduled to take place only on February 20, between 9:21 am and 150:XNUMX pm local time. This will require a race between players to complete the proposed challenges, which includes capturing the Kanto Originals XNUMX.

How will the Kanto event work?

When purchasing the Pokémon GO Tour ticket, the player will choose between two paths: Red ou Green, just like in the first games in the franchise. Each path will have research and exclusive Pokémon, to complete the capture of the original 150, it will be necessary to find other people with the opposite version to make the switch - something that remains to this day in the main games, such as Sword and Shield.

All 150 of these Kanto Pokémon can be found in the Shiny version, even if some of them never got one — the species variant will remain even after the event ends. Upon completion of the Pokémon GO Tour Special Research, another (more difficult) research will be unlocked to give access to the mythical Mew Shiny — currently, players can only catch Mew once in the game.

The ticket is already on sale at the store for R$ 69,90, but those who do not buy the ticket can also participate, with some limitations, of course.

In the full, paid version, these will be the news for the event:

• All Pokémon in Kanto will appear in the wild, in raids, in research task encounters, or by incense;
• Special rewards for collecting 150 Kanto Pokémon (not counting Mew);
• Choose from the Red or Green path, with unique species and more chances to find certain Shiny Pokémon (below);
• Access to Pokémon GO Tour Special Research: Kanto, which will lead to another search to find Mew Shiny;
• More candy to each captured Kanto Pokémon.

If the player fails to capture 150 Kanto on the day of the event, they have until February 27 to complete the challenges.

Event without a Pokémon GO Tour ticket

With limitations, players who do not buy the ticket can take advantage of the following (the benefits below also apply to those who do):

• Appearance of Kanto Pokémon in the wild and in raids;
• Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos and Mewtwo will return to legendary raids;
• Access to the temporary research of the event (not the special one);
• Exchanges can be made with a distance of 40 kilometers.

Players who purchase tickets to the Pokémon GO Kanto: Tour event in advance will earn a special research ticket for the January and February 2021 Community Day.

• For Community Day January 2021, the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto ticket must be purchased by January 13;
• For February 2021 Community Day, Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto tickets must be purchased by February 3rd.
