Which Pokemon was chosen for the event?

The aquatic Magikarp will appear more frequently on Community Day. The Pokémon is known in the franchise games for being somewhat useless, but its evolution, Gyarados rewards all the effort of training it to evolution.

In Pokémon Go, to evolve a Magikarp into a Gyarados, one of the strongest aquatics in the game, 400 candies are needed — not counting the extras that will be used to unlock abilities or power up the Pokémon later.

There are also chances of encountering a Shiny Magikarp during Community Day and any of that species evolved during the event will have the "Aqua Tail" attack.
