Trades in Pokemon Go

For trades to take place in Pokémon Go, two people, level 10 or higher, must be friends in the game and be close (it won't work if each one is in their house).

In the process, an amount of Stardust is spent, which varies depending on the Pokémon. Niantic says that the more coveted the Pokémon to trade, the greater the amount of element used (more on that below).

To trade in Pokémon Go:

  1. Tap your character's avatar to open the profile page;
  2. Access the friends tab;
  3. Tap on the friend you want to trade with (he must be within 100 meters of you);
  4. Tap on “Change”;
  5. Once your friend enters the trade room, you'll need to choose the Pokémon you want to send to them. When selecting, depending on your friend's level, the Pokémon may be nerfed or buffed (become weaker or stronger).
    In the example, the Metapod I sent had a CP of 119, which could be reduced to 92 when transferred to the other player;
  6. Tap “Next” to confirm the Pokémon;
  7. Tap “Confirm” to start the exchange.

Is there a limit to exchange?

It depends.

Special trades — those for legendary Pokémon, shinies, or species that you haven't registered in the Pokédex yet — can be made once per day.

Mythical Pokémon such as Mew and others that have been previously traded cannot participate in trades.

Trade costs in Pokémon Go

The rarer the Pokémon, the higher the cost of Stardust. However, these values can be reduced, it all depends on the friendship level between you and your friend.

As you play together, up to a maximum of 90 days, your friendship level increases. In addition to reducing exchange costs, the relationship can evolve into a lucky friendship and thereby turn the traded Pokémon into a Lucky Pokémon.

lucky pokemon

When trading with a friend, there are chances that the received Pokémon will be turned into a Lucky Pokémon. The advantage is that it consumes less Stardust when empowered.

The chances of getting a Lucky Pokémon are higher the longer you spend with the Pokémon. The longer his capture time, the greater the chance.

When trading with my friend, his Diglett was turned into Lucky with me, that's because he was captured in 2016.
