Call of Duty should become an Xbox exclusive, but Warzone 2 will come to PS5

Jason Schreier, a journalist specializing in games at Bloomberg, gave hints about the future of the series Call of Duty, after the purchase of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, in recent days. According to Schreier, the next three games will continue to be cross-platform, including PlayStation and not just on Xbox, but what comes next is still open, with non-discarded exclusivity. The report also mentions that Warzone 2 is one of these titles.

“But wait a minute, Call of Duty Warzone 2?”. Yes, according to the journalist, the Battle Royale game in the series will get a new version, exclusive to the most current generation of consoles – that is, PS5 and Xbox Series – with improved graphics.

According to the initial plans, the idea is that Warzone 2 will communicate with the first one and also between platforms. The different name would be a mere formality - more or less what happened with Fortnite, when they ended Chapter 1 and came to call the game Fortnite 2, but in fact it was still the same game.

However, Tom Henderson, a journalist who has access to some internal sources of the market, said that it would be a completely new game, without connection with the previous one, while maintaining the same style and gameplay.

What we will know for sure will only come later. It is worth remembering that Activision has not yet announced what this year's Call of Duty will be, which usually happens from the second quarter, so we have to wait for more news.

For now, Call of Duty continues to break records in all versions that are released and Warzone, in addition to Mobile, are always among the most played games on their respective platforms. This is, without a doubt, one of the most important series today, commercially speaking.
