The maps revealed

According to developer Treyarch, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will feature a series of maps inspired by the story mode and also uniquely designed for the new adventure.

Among the first confirmed are:

  • Armada (in the middle of the North Atlantic)
  • Crossorads (on the way from Afghanistan to Uzbekistan)
  • Miami (South Beach)
  • Moscow (Soviet Union)
  • Satellite (Angola Desert)

These five maps will be available at launch, but others are expected to arrive via expansions as usual. In addition, the producer promises 4K graphics for the new generation of consoles.

Game Modes

In addition to having the maps revealed, Treyarch also revealed what the game's initial multiplayer modes will be.

Will they be:

  • VIP Escort (6 vs 6, protecting one person)
  • Combined Arms (12 vs 12, using vehicles and equipment)
  • Fireteam (40 players with up to 4 teams of 10)

Within the multiplayer gameplay, news will also be added to players. As the studio informs, these will be the elements incremented in Black Ops Cold War:

  • Races – Operators automatically receive a movement boost when they start a race, which slows down to normal running speed
  • Slips – Slipping starts and ends in a crouching position for more realistic movement
  • Step control – Faster movement makes more noise, and slow movement produces almost no sound. Players can reduce the sound of their footsteps even further with the return of the classic Ninja Perk
  • Jumps – Expect a more normal height when jumping, and a brief reduction in speed when landing

Remember that anyone who pre-orders Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on PSN will receive access to the PS4 multiplayer beta on October 10th. Additionally, between October 15th and 19th, players from all platforms will have the chance to participate.
