Roblox Might Coming to PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch, CEO Suggests

Roblox gaming platform may be released for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and Oculus Quest 2 in the future. However, there is still no forecast for this to happen. For the developer's CEO, Dave Baszucki, taking the service to other consoles would be simple, as the games published on the service run through the cloud on all devices. For now, Roblox is on PCs, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Android and iPhone (iOS) phones.

The possibility of launching Roblox on other platforms came up in the presentation of results for the last fiscal year of Roblox Corporation, which took place on May 11. At the time, Baszucki said he was interested in bringing the platform not only to Sony and Nintendo video games, but also to the Oculus Quest 2, a virtual reality accessory.

According to Baszucki, Roblox's main concern is to show developers that they can create any game, because when the game is published on the servers of the cloud service, it runs on any device. So having the platform on PlayStation, Switch and Oculus Quest consoles would be positive for both the company and gamers.

The CEO, however, said only that there are plans to take Roblox elsewhere. Baszucki did not provide possible release dates for other versions of the platform.

Roblox grew 161% in revenue in 2021
Fiscal 2021 was the best year yet for Roblox Corporation. On March 31, Roblox recorded a 161% increase in gross revenue and, even with a loss of US$ 134,2 million (R$ 700 million), it still made a profit of US$ 387 million (R$ 2 billion). This was the first financial report since the company's debut on the New York Stock Exchange.

If Roblox is released on other devices, game creators can also benefit, as it is possible to earn money by placing microtransactions in games published on the platform. According to the developer, about 1 users have already earned at least US$ 10 (R$ 52) with their productions and 250 people have received more than US$ 100 (R$ 521).
