Crayta was launched just a year ago and rose to prominence after being offered for free on Google Stadia. Despite the short time on the road, the platform quickly conquered users in its own niche and brought some monetization solutions, catching the attention of Facebook. In March, Crayta also became available on the Epic Games Store.

“Crayta has leveraged current cloud streaming technology to make game creation more accessible and easier to use. We plan to integrate Crayta's creative toolset with the Facebook Gaming cloud platform to instantly deliver new Facebook experiences,” said Facebook VP Gaming Vivek Sharma.

Acquisition should not affect use of Crayta

The entire gaming platform team will be part of the movement. In a Medium post, Richard Smithies, CEO of Unit 2 Games, stated that the entire team at the company is “extremely thrilled” to officially join the Facebook Gaming family.

“As many of you know, our vision for Unit 2 Games and Crayta was truly to democratize game creation, empowering more people than ever before to make, play and share games, regardless of experience or background. (…) The Facebook Gaming team also shares these values and is as excited as we are by the potential of this vision and the talent and passion of our team,” explained Smithies.

Crayta will continue to function normally for its users, at least for now. The CEO of Unit 2 Games promises to bring new content and features to the game while “planning for the future”.

Facebook did not disclose the financial and contractual details about the deal.
