The Caves and Cliffs Update Part I was the first half of the total update that was set to refresh all mountains. cliffs and cave biome in the overworld and also introducing some new features along with it. This includes the new blocks, mobs and items players can find and harvest as the ever-growing selection of items in Minecraft gets bigger and bigger.

Minecraft Calcite
Calcite is a new block that was added in the Minecraft Caves and Cliffs Update Part I, along with many of the new geodes like Amethyst and also Copper Ores.

Minecraft Calcite can be distinguished by its peculiar white color and its cobblestone pattern on the surface. The glowing white block can only be found in one structure in the game.
How to find Calcite?
Calcite is a carbonate geode that can be found along with Amethyst Geode in the game and forms only with the Amethyst Geode Cluster.
This is only found in the second layer of the complete Amethyst geode, which includes three layers in total. The first layer is a smooth basalt layer, which forms a cover around the calcite blocks. This can occur anywhere from level Y 80 to bedrock. So finding a ton of smooth basalt is an easy way to know the presence of calcite.
After mining the basalt layer, players will find a layer of calcite that they can mine using a wooden pickaxe above. Underneath the second calcite layer is the amethyst geode layer and then a hollow center.
Usages for Calcite
There is no practical purpose for the Calcite block in the game at the moment, as no crafting or brewing recipes have been released with it. It has no use in any of the mechanisms and is there simply for decorative purposes.
However, as it is a new block, players can expect some new additions to the game at later stages that include this block in their usage.
