How to grow big trees in Minecraft

Whether Minecraft players want to grow them for decoration or increased wood production, tall trees are a useful resource to invest in.

While tall trees can be more difficult to harvest, the extra wood per tree doesn't hurt. Also, planting tall trees has been an inspiration to Minecraft builders, who used them to create eye-catching above-ground treehouses and other structures.

Growing regular seedlings in tall trees is probably not an apparent process for newer players or those who have never tried growing them before, but it is not a daunting process.

After running it a few times, players will have no problem growing large trees for whatever purpose they see fit.

How to grow big trees in Minecraft

Growing tall trees in Minecraft is a fairly simple procedure and only requires a few materials. Of course, players will require seedlings of the desired tree type. They will also need at least two glass blocks and plates of any kind.

Bone meal is also recommended as it accelerates the tree's growth, although this method can also be applied to the tree's natural growth.

All that is needed is the following:

  1. Place the seedling inside the soil or grass. Make sure it has room to grow and is not obstructed by other blocks.
  2. One block away from the seedling diagonally, place a two-block glass column. This can also be achieved with a glass block and plate of any kind.
  3. Destroy the bottom block of the column.
  4. (Optional) Apply bone meal to the seedling until it grows into a tree.

This will ensure that the game creates the tall tree type in Minecraft.

Occasionally, the resulting tree from this method may appear small or normal in size compared to medium trees, but this is due to the game's generation code.

Even if it is a shorter tree, the tree will usually display more branches and leaves, confirming that it is still part of the “tall tree” archetype. Most of the time, however, the tree should be tall and considerable.

Another method exists with plates used to aid in the growth process. It can be decreed like this:

  1. Place a two-block column on a chosen dirt or grass block. Soon, this will be the seedling site.
  2. At the bottom of the second column block, place four slabs on the outside of the block in a crisscross pattern.
  3. Once the slabs are in place, remove the blocks from the column.
  4. Position the seedling in the center and under the floating slabs in the same block where the pillar used to be.
  5. (Optional) Apply cornmeal to the Minecraft seedling to stimulate its growth.

Since tree generation is partially random, this method may not guarantee a massive tree either.

However, it produces solid results most of the time and will grow trees that, at the very least, provide more branches and leaves.

Some Minecraft players may even choose to use these methods and place their earth blocks adjacent to naturally placed or existing log blocks to increase the size of a tree as well. This is a complicated process, but it can result in some truly gigantic trees.

For the best results, Minecraft players may want to start with oak seedlings and move forward with others, as oaks are more common and grow very robustly using these methods compared to other seedlings.
