Where to find snow foxes in Minecraft

Foxes are passive inhabitants of the taiga biomes. Being a Minecraft night mob, they often carry items while exploring the open world.

When it comes to white/snow foxes, they can usually be found in snowy biomes that match their winter fur, such as the snowy taiga biome. These biomes are somewhat unusual, but foxes tend to spawn here in small groups rather than spawning individually, allowing players more opportunities to spot them.

As they are nocturnal, snow foxes seek out areas within the snowy taiga with a sky light level (not to be confused with a standard light level) of 14 or less and settle in to nap until dusk. However, this rule is suspended when there is a storm.

Where to find snow foxes in Minecraft

Snow foxes are a variant of the mob within Minecraft, the other being standard foxes (orange). Standard foxes can be found in snowless taiga biomes and operate in the same way as their white fur relatives. They move at night, sleep during the day, and can carry items with them while resting or traveling.

Like their snowy counterparts, standard foxes spawn in groups of two to four individuals. Also, all foxes have a five percent chance of spawning as babies in the Minecraft world.

When approaching foxes, players should try to enter stealth mode to get close to them. Otherwise, foxes will flee from the player until they gain substantial distance from them.

Minecraft players with sweet fruits or shiny berries should try to feed them to foxes on occasion, which will allow the mob to breed. This is similar to using wheat on cows, seeds on chickens and carrots on pigs.

Both the standard fox and the snow fox can be bred together, with the baby having a 50% chance of having an orange or white coat. If raised by a player, the baby fox will also be born tamed. However, he will still follow adults.

Players must be careful not to scare the parents, or the baby fox might run away with them. This is where wires can come in handy, as players can tie the fox cub to a nearby block until it grows into an adult.

Foxes do not like wild wolves and polar bears in Minecraft and will run away from them when chased. However, domesticated wolves and foxes will have no problem sharing space with each other.

This is important to remember, as losing a tamed fox can be a little easier than other tamed animals such as wolves and cats.
