Top 5 New Confirmed Additions for Minecraft 1.18 Caves & Cliffs Update Part 2

Mojang will release the second iteration of the Minecraft Caves & Cliffs update this year in the winter. Initially, all Caves & Cliffs features were planned to be released in a single update, but Mojang decided to split them into two parts for a smoother release.

Normal snapshots for Minecraft version 1.18 will be released somewhere around September. However, players can still test the upcoming features by installing Experimental Snapshot 3 which was released on August 10th. Bedrock players can also install beta versions to try out the new features.

New mountain biomes are coming in the update (

Mountains are finally getting a makeover, and once the update goes live, players will see six new mountain sub-biomes: Meadow, grove, Lofty Peaks, Snowy Slopes, Snow Capped Peaks, and Stony Peaks. As the world altitude will increase, seamounts will spawn up to level Y 260.

Bundle is a new item that aims to help players manage their inventory. It has 64 pack slots which are different from the normal inventory slots. If the player wants to store a stackable item, he can store a stack of the same item or multiple items combined. Non-stackable items such as swords will occupy all spaces.

3) Sculk

During the Minecraft Live 2020 event, a new mystery lock was revealed by Mojang. As shown in the live stream, the carved blocks can be found in the nearby dark cave biome. Sculk sensors are a type of Sculk block that can detect vibrations and emit redstone signals.



2) Director

To make the player's cave experience that much scarier, Mojang is introducing a new blind hostile mob called the Warden. It will spawn in the deep dark cave biome along with carved blocks. The director has a sensor-like block carved into his head, which allows him to detect vibrations and locate players.

Lush Caverns (

Mojang finally listened to his fans and decided to change the way caves are generated in Minecraft. Three new cave biomes are coming in the update: lush caves, dripstone caves, and deep darkness. The height of the world generation is also being raised downwards. Therefore, caves will spawn up to level Y -59.
