Deserts in Minecraft are wastelands filled with barren sand and this is where Minecraft's Desert Temples come from. They are unusual structures and are often buried in the sand, which makes them difficult to find.

Desert temples have a main hall in the middle, with two towers on either side. The towers have orange patterns and between them is the entrance to the pyramid. The entire pyramid is built using normal. chiseled and cut sandstone blocks.
