Release date and snapshots

So far, no specific release date for Minecraft 1.18 has been released. However, Mojang revealed that the update will be out later this year in one of his articles. The forecast is that it will come out during the winter.

If all goes well for the developers, Snapshots 1.18 will be released in September. They also released three experimental snapshots. Some of the upcoming features are also available in beta for Bedrock Edition.

Three new cave biomes will be introduced in the update: lush caves, dripstone caves, and deep darkness. Two of these biomes are already available for testing in beta versions and experimental snapshots. They will spawn underground and internal mountains.

Six new mountainous sub-biomes will also spawn in Minecraft version 1.18: mountain meadows, high peaks, snowy slopes, snow-capped peaks, mountain forests, and rocky peaks.

The beaches have gotten wider and in some places they no longer spawn. The world height limit has been increased to 384 blocks and the world depth to -64. Cloud height is also rising from 128 to 192.

Once the update is released, players can use two new items: packs and goat horns. With the addition of so many new blocks, Mojang has decided to add packs that will help players manage their inventories.

There are sixty-four slots in each pack, but they work differently from the inventory. Instead of a stack, a single package slot can contain a single item. Using all slots, players can store a stack of one item or multiple items that can be stacked. Only one non-stackable item, such as a pickaxe, can be kept in the pack.

In the beta, if players click the use button while holding a horn, it shows the eating animation and makes a horn noise. The use of goat horns is still unknown, but it has been confirmed that features related to it will come in future updates.

During the Minecraft 2020 event, the sculpture's growth in the dark was revealed by Mojang. Sculk sensors are one of the Sculk blocks that users can use to create wireless redstone contraptions. It can detect vibrations and emit redstone signals.

Along with sculk, the director was also featured at the event. It is a blind crowd that appears in the deep darkness. This creature will always attack players as it detects vibrations that reveal its location.
