Minecraft Fungus was only made up of Overworld mushrooms, but the Nether update added many more. The two notable biomes added to the Nether dimensions are the Crimson Forest biome and the Warped Forest biome. These biomes have abundant vegetation and two new fungi were introduced here. These are Warped Fungus and Crimson Fungus, both of which are similar to mushrooms.

Warped Fungus on a Stick
This item has only one purpose in the game: to control the strider mount found in the Nether dimension.

This is similar to the Carrot on a Stick item, which is used to make the Pigs assembly faster. However, the Strider mob cannot be controlled without using this Warped Fungus on a Stick.
Players need to make this item to obtain it. However, in very rare cases, when a zombified pig is born as a strider jockey, it has a deformed fungus on a stick in its hand instead of a golden sword. The chance of discarding it is extremely low and therefore not a reliable source to get it from.
Uses
The Strider mob can be found in the lava layers of the Nether realm and can be sealed by players to mount it. However, players need a Warped Fungus on a Stick in Minecraft to be able to control the strider mob.
When assembling the strider, players need to hold the stick in their main or indirect hand and simply direct the strider in the way forward. Pressing the right button while holding it will also increase the Strider's speed.
This mob is especially useful due to its lava-walking ability.

Players need to collect the following items first:
- Fishing rod x1
- Warped Fungus x1
