GTA Online Short Trips are story-based co-op missions for two players that briefly abandon their avatars in a haze of smoke to take the place of protagonists Franklin Clinton and Lamar Davies. They were added as part of the GTA Online The Contract update and offer the opportunity to play new story content as Franklin himself for the first time since 2013! How to play GTA Online on short trips
Originally, if you wanted to play GTA Online Short Trips, you would first have to finish the full Dr Dre storyline from The Contract, at which point you would receive an invite to visit GTA Online Record A Studios and open the option to start these missions. Everything has changed now, as all players can activate them by going through the Job Menu, although the exact route is not obvious at first. Go to Online > Play Job > Rockstar Created > Quests then scroll down until you find the GTA Online short travel options. Choose the mission you want to play, then you'll be taken into matchmaking to partner up with another player - these are co-op activities so you can't fly alone.
What are GTA Online's short travel missions
There are three different GTA Online Short Trips missions in total, obviously all revolving around the marijuana business with Franklin and Lamar's attempts to cement their position in the game. The story themes for each of them should unfold in the following order:
GTA Online Short Trips – Seed Capital
Franklin and Lamar go to LD Organics to stock up on merchandise, but discover that the warehouse is being raided by members of the Vagos gang. After fighting them all, the duo sees Lamar's truck being slowly driven away, so jump in the back, then the driver warns the Vagos to start a vehicular combat. After a final shootout in the alley, they retrieve the truck and return it to the warehouse.

GTA Online Short Trips – Accelerate
Seeking revenge, Franklin and Lamar head to the Vagos' marijuana depot in Blaine County, racing Franklin's motorcycle into Lamar's upgraded car on the way. After fighting gang members in the first warehouse, they use fertilizer to burn off the weeds before moving on to a second warehouse to repeat the process, commanding a Tech (pickup with a machine gun mounted) to deal with many enemy vehicles. With both warehouse supplies destroyed, they steal a Vagos van and take it back to Franklin's house while fighting off more gang members.
GTA Online Short Trips – OG Kush
Lamar arranges a promotional meeting for LD Organics with Jimmy Boston of the Epsilon Program, using a van that is literally 'made of marijuana', and asks Franklin to provide support. When they arrive at the 'secret' meeting place (which Lamar inadvertently revealed via a Snapmatic post), Franklin climbs onto a crane to provide cover for the sniper and soon sees a large number of Vagos arriving. After dealing with the gang members, the duo attempt to drive the van back to LD Organics, but find it's on fire and they're getting high from the smoke. Realizing they won't be returning to the warehouse, they head to Tequi-la-la to try and gain publicity for the brand and, despite failing on the outside, the ruse works to raise the profile of their business.
